The Flint Institute of Music (FIM) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching lives through music, dance, and the performing arts. Serving the Flint and Genesee County community for decades, FIM provides high-quality arts education, cultural programming, and performance opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels. Through its three main divisions, the Flint School of Performing Arts, Flint Repertory Theatre, and Flint Symphony Orchestra, FIM fosters creativity, discipline, and personal growth while making the arts accessible to the community. FIM is also the proud steward of several iconic cultural venues, including the historic Capitol Theatre, Whiting Auditorium, and its intimate performance spaces, the MacArthur Recital Hall and Elgood Theatre. These venues host everything from world-class performances to community-centered productions, creating vibrant spaces where the arts bring people together.
